Ok, I got frustrated with my combined daily driver and project car...Maybe it's my age that makes me feel that I have to have separate cars for daily use and for project. At the moment my project Audi has lost it's value as daily driver, so I decided to buy new daily driver and at the same time fulfill my long time dream...I bought -06 model Chrysler 300c crd. At the moment it is very stock, but I have some small plans for it...no, it won't turn to project car! I think that every car needs some improvements, so does this...:) I have some plans for suspension, rims, lights, exhaust, multimedia...I'll write something here, so keep on reading...!

Awesome car! I wonder if you wont turn it into a project car in the end though. smile

Sv: MarbManÂŽs Chrysler 300C CRD

Trying to avoid that...:D

Actually some steps are already taken...I decided to throw stock radio away and install Alpine IVA-D106R and PXA-H100 DSP...for that I need 1DIN adapter to console and harness adapter. Those are already ordered.

I also ordered H&R suspension lowering springs so it will be lowered 50mm.

And I have 22" rims in the shop waiting for me...unfortunately I have to order spacers/adapter for them to make them fit.

Also I have tires on my "to be ordered" list...do you know any good swedish tire shops in the web, cheap ones? I've been thinking to make order from NordendÀck.

And further...I'm planning to do so called "resonator eliminator kit" by myself. In concrete level that means that mufflers from the end of exhaust pipe will be replaced with straight pipes...I have all the stuff waiting in my garage.

Next steps however are change of oil and polish whole car...and make some fixes such as replace brake discs and some other junk. Can you imagine...there isn't any single brake disc in Finland, chrysler's dealer doesn't have any and same stands for aftermarket brakediscs...I wonder if anyone could help me to find from Sweden?

oh yes...I forgot. I "de-molded" the car, as they say in the yankee forums...means that I took all the molds of the car. Looks better if I'm asked...

This is where I started
http://personal.inet.fi/cool/joke/Chrysler/a.jpg

I took moldings of using fishing line...after that it looked like this
http://personal.inet.fi/cool/joke/Chrysler/b.jpg

I washed molding areas, took glue residues off with "rubber disc" and finally polished the areas...result can been seen here:

Oil and oil filter is changed and I got information that aftermark radio installation kit has arrived to local dealer...and furthermore...I got rims too:

Lip is size of cigarettebox:

This gives some idea of size:

Thanks!

Now...I would really appreciate if someone could tell me names of swedish part dealer shops. I need to find brake discs, outer steering rod ball joints and some more parts...It seems to be just impossible to find those parts for this car from Finland...:(

Well...I prefer ebay.de smile Probably from US I could find whatever I need, but the freigh, tull fees and taxes makes the prices insane.
I'll have a look on german ebay...:)

The thing here is that the dealer who sold the car to me will pay the parts and installation. So I don't feel very comfortable to order parts from here and there by myself and then take them to service company which puts them in place...would be best if everything was got from one place...darn I have chosen difficult car to maintain big_smile

Sv: MarbManÂŽs Chrysler 300C CRD

Ok, now I have sent email to 5 German part dealer...let's hope for the best. I also asked my friends, who are living close sweden border, if they could go and ask those parts from sweden side...:)

EDIT: email sent also to Estonia and Great Britain.

ha...tuning box installed. Power gain is noticeable but it requires some more fine tuning to get all out of it...:)

Sv: MarbManÂŽs Chrysler 300C CRD

I tuned the box a bit more and it seems that it had some affect...have to tune more tongue

God damn can-bus...I tried to install aftermarket radio with can-bus adapter. Well, the stock radio was easy to take away but when I added can-adapter and new dvd player everything was just fine except that no sound came out of the set. It seems that stock amplifier does not turn on...needs some more investigation. Has anyone faced similar issues?

Sv: MarbManÂŽs Chrysler 300C CRD

It just doesn't work sad And I noticed that if dsp is activated, dvd players speaker outputs are not and vice versa. So, if I have had dvdd working in my car, dsp is still not working. So, plan b...I'll install separate amplifier for stock speakers, take signal from dsp and everything works....I hope smile

Have you ever heard about Blastin Bobs resonator eliminator kits? Well - I made one myself - didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars or euros for bent pipes...:D I just bought 2 pcs of exhaust pipe bent to 90 degrees and 2 outlets...I had some straight pipe on the shelf and off you go. I cut both exhausts, took off stock mufflers, or resonators or what ever you call them, and welded new pipes...well, I could say it was worth the money. Result looks almost like stock except outlets are bigger, sound is a bit louder but that much louder that you could hear big difference to stock. When accelerating, it sounds like V8...absolutely worth doing!!! Ok, I have to do small adjustments to brackets, since outlets are now bigger and they are occasionally hammering the rear skirt...

Ok, I did some more adjustments to tuning box...I could find the surge limit and adjusted the box just below the surge limit...feeellss gooodd..! smile

Now I'm waiting for lowering springs and new tires for 22" rims...and looking for spare parts smile

Colle...why you didn't tell that earlier! big_smile Could you please give me prices (+freight) for:

- Brake discs (front, 345mm, vented)
- Brake discs (rear, 320mm, vented)
- Brake pads front and rear
- Outer tie rods, both sides
- Stabilizer connecting links, both sides

You can send private message...:)

And...I got final adjustments done to exhaust, now outlets doesn't hammer the rear skirt anymore...and I got information that lowering springs have arrived to dealer. I'll pick'em up today and hope I can get them installed during the weekend...

Ok...lowering springs installed. In the rear shock and spring are separate, so I though it is enough if I just jack the car up, press the sring a bit and take it of...well no. I had to release shock absorbers lower bolt and also subframes inner bolt before spring was willing to come out smile In the fron it was easier, just release 3 bolts from engine bay, one bolt from lower front strut and also stabilizer connecting link's upper bolt...Whole project took nearly 4 hours but it ended up well...driveability got better, suspension is stiff but not too hard. Manufacturer says that springs will lower 50 mm, it looks like it does, but I'm still going to measure the height drop. I'll publish some pics when I have taken some...:)

Next things on to-be-done list:
- 22" tires are on their way -> put them on the rims and try on the car
- polish and two component wax
- clean interior
- find, order and install brake etc. parts
- plan b multimedia setup

Tires arrived today...tires will be put on rims and balanced on Saturday tongue

Orange sidemarkers are replaced with black ones now...

Sv: MarbManÂŽs Chrysler 300C CRD

Rock Rock...last weekend I tried summer tires on. Size is 265/35-22 and I was afraid of fitting issues with upper ball joint and knuckle arm since new wheel looks way much bigger than stock. Both clearances are ~10mm with stock tire. But it was more like optical illusion and new tires aren't very much bigger than stock and with new tires clearances are 5-6mm to ball joint and 3mm to knuckle arm. Tires position to those doesn't vary so 1mm would have been enough big_smile How ever, tires are inside the fenders clearly, but rear fender arcs comes quite close to tire so it might rub, or not...we'll see that next summer smile
Instead of those issues, I had some real issues with pin bolts...I have to use adapter to get pcd and et correct. Car's pin bolts were too long, they came out of adapter that much that I had to make some space for them into to rims with drill and also I had to cut them a bit. I just couldn't cut them to right lenght since then I couldn't have been able put stock rims back due to too short pin bolts. After I could make both adapter and rim fit together, I noticed that adapters' pin bolts were too long as well and I had to cut them too...it took 7 hrs to make the fit...but...as a result I'm very happy, tires fit well now and look awesome...I'll publish some bad quality photos soon...

Next step is to make some fixes such as:

- brake discs
- brake pads
- tie rods ends
- stabilazer connecting links
- rear subframe pushings

...and clean interior, maybe wash the car...and later make some improvements in audio system...
